On the end of one of the top 5 weekends of my life, the Wigglebutt Wedding was a smashing success: All 2-1/2 days of it. We spent nine months planning and organizing so that every detail could be covered. Our hearts our filled with gratitude. We will continue to help the Cockers and we will formally be announcing our 2014 event within the next week or two. We are already planning and next weekend, we head to Connecticut to get the ball rolling. We will continue with a yearly event in the name of helping dogs.
For those unfamiliar with it, the Wigglebutt Wedding is a creative way to raise funds for Life’s Little Paws Cocker Spaniel Rescue Group. What started out as an idea to have a small backyard wedding to raise funds for Life’s Little Paws, who incidentally rescued the bride the day she was scheduled to be euthanized, has evolved into a full-scale formal affair covered by media, resplendent with sponsors, and ripe with celebrities in the dog world.
We’ve only just begun. We will do this yearly in the name of dog and to raise funds, with a different theme each year. The two groups benefiting from our 2014 fun-draiser are: Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. so we can buy a police dog in the area of the party a bulletproof/stab proof vest, which cost about $1,000. You can read more about that on my Pet360 Dog Appeal blog.
The rest of the funds raised will be given to OBG Cocker Spaniel Rescue, an amazing group that helps Cockers in need.
As I told many folks at the wedding who want to help pets in need, want to blog or do already microblog here on Facebook and not sure what to do next: Come to the BlogPaws Conference in May of 2014. It is one of the best things you can do for under $200 with all meals covered for three days with your pet by your side.
Thanks to all who were involved and watch for thank yous, post wedding media report, tv segment with Lauren Collier of Pet Talk News12CT and more.
Wiggle on, we are the Wigglebutt Warriors: Crusading to Save Dogs’ Lives, and we have THREE surprises to share.
First, the video we showed at the Wigglebutt Wedding. This video explains exactly why we did this.
Are you familiar with superstar Pug, Loca? Loca has a condition called cerebellar ataxia, in which damage within the nerve cells in the part of the brain that controls muscle coordination results in loss of coordination, or ataxia. His family launched a video about Loca and it has gone very viral. Well, Loca also gifted us with a very special wedding present from Dexter to Zoe.
And finally, the three Wigglebutt Warriors: Myself, Darlene Bryant, and Val Sorensen, wish to thank our amazing sponsors without whom none of this would have been possible. We encourage you to visit their websites, check out their products and services, and enjoy!
